Which exam do you need?

Depending on your professional needs and ambitions you can take an exam verifying your English language competence internationally. If you decide to pursue your accademic goals at an English speaking university, you are most likely to need an exam at least at the C1 level according to the the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Many universities recognize Cambridge Exams testing general English (i.e. Cambridge Advanced), but some universities require examinations focused on academic English (e.g. IELTS Academic), so you need to check the specific requirements of your future university before choosing your exam. If you decide to apply for a Bachelor's or Master's program at an American university, you will most probbaly need to take the TOEFL® test

As for the Czech universities, some of them will give you extra credits for an internationally recognized exam at a B2 level according to CEFR (e.g. Cambridge First)

To practice for the international exams FCE, CAE or IELTS, you can apply for a specialized seminar in the 3rd and 4th years.

Cambridge Advanced (CAE) is a an advanced examination at the Level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Holders of Cambridge Advanced can use English with confidence effectively not only in social and professional situations but also in higher education. English speakers with C1 langauge competence can carry out complex research and communicate effectively at a professional level.

Cambridge First (FCE) is an examination at an intermediate level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). English speakers at this level can work and live in an English speaking country.
