Our school, Gymnasium Praha 5, Na Zatlance 11,  is a four-year Grammar School, with a 150-year-long tradition teaching students between the age of 15 and 19. The main objectives of our school are to prepare students most appropriately for academic studies at universities, and to show them the connection between the theory and their educational needs in real life outside the school. The school's philosophy is to develop an independent and creative potential of students so that they could become active and well-informed European citizens.

The school offers various curriculum and extra curriculum educational theme courses including regular summer and winter sports courses, courses with mixed sports and drug-prevention activities, various theme trips abroad focused on understanding the present and history of different cultures, and trips focused on ecological education. The school won the "Secondary School of the Year" award of 2013/14. Participants of this event are international Delegates who work in committees lead by two Chairs. The Chairs are supervised by the Presidium. The Presidium consisting of three members work independently but also consult the process of the whole event with the teachers.

The whole event begins approximately a month before the main committee work and General Assembly 24th-28th February 2018 in Prague. Students will be divided into their chosen committees and given topics on which they will do research and look for issues and solutions.

Prior to the main Prague event, they will be asked to work on-line in their international committees. They will be posting their ideas and research online.

The offered committees for PEPY 2018 will be: Constitutional Affairs, Economic Affairs, External Affairs, Agriculture, Education, Environmental Affairs and Social Affairs. The main focus of research will deal with the solutions for fragmenting and changing Europe.

On the first day of the main event 24th February the students will arrive in Prague and check into the PEPY hotel. The programme will start in the afternoon where the delegations will participate mainly in icebreaking and teambuilding games in their committees. There will also be workshops serving as aid for the development of their debating, leadership and research skills. The next day, 25th February and morning 26th February,  the committee work will be focused on discussing research findings and forming a resolution, which is an official document stating problems and solutions to current European issues, and is the main outcome of the committee work.

In the afternoon of the third day (26th February) the event “Ask an Expert” will take place – during the afternoon students will be discussing their resolutions with professionals relevant to the committees’ main chosen topic. The students will then submit their resolutions and prepare for the climax of the whole event – the General Assembly taking place on Tuesday 27th.

The General Assembly will take place on Tuesday 27th – committees one by one will be invited to defend their resolutions in a debate against attacks of their fellow delegates through points and multiple structured speeches.  At the end of each debate voting will take place and the resolution will either pass or not pass. If the resolution passes, it will be handed to a local representative of the Parliament of EU.

The General Assembly will finish in the evening hours on Tuesday, after which the delegations will move to their main headquarters (PEPY hotel) and enjoy dinner and evening together. The programme finishes in the morning after breakfast and saying good byes.
